You can always make your own homemade chicken bone broth an add the Freja carton into the pan that can give you that extra flavour.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to making your own chicken bone broth at home an to add extra more flavour with Freja Bone Broth:
Ingredients:
- 2-3 pounds of chicken bones (such as leftover roasted chicken or raw chicken bones)
- 1 onion, peeled and quartered
- 2 carrots, chopped into large chunks
- 2 celery stalks, chopped into large chunks
- 4-6 cloves of garlic, smashed
- 2 bay leaves
- Handful of fresh herbs (such as parsley, thyme, or rosemary)
- Optional: 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar (helps to extract minerals from the bones)
Instructions:
- Prepare the chicken bones: If you’re using leftover roasted chicken which I normally use when I do make my own chicken broth, simply remove any remaining meat from the bones.
- Place the chicken bones in a large stockpot or slow cooker. Add the quartered onion, chopped carrots, celery, smashed garlic cloves, bay leaves, and fresh herbs to the pot.
- Optional step: Add apple cider vinegar to the pot. This helps to draw out minerals from the bones and enhance the nutrient content of the broth.
- Fill the pot with the Freja Chicken Bone Broth mix with water to cover the ingredients by about 2 inches.
- Bring the water to a gentle boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to low to maintain a simmer.
- Allow the broth to simmer gently for at least 4-6 hours, or up to 24 hours for maximum flavor and nutrient. The longer the broth simmers, the richer and more flavorful it will become an let me tell you you can really taste the flavour.
- Once the broth has finished simmering, remove it from the heat and allow it to cool slightly. Strain the broth through a mesh sieve into a large bowl or container to remove any solids.
- Let the broth cool completely, then what I like to do is transfer it containers or jars for storage as this can be perfect for your next day. Homemade chicken bone broth can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or frozen for longer storage.
Use your homemade chicken bone broth as a base for soups, stews, sauces, or simply sip it warm as a nourishing beverage. Enjoy the rich flavor and health benefits of your homemade broth!
If you haven’t tried it yet, you’re seriously missing out! Trust me, once you start incorporating bone broth into your routine, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it. Let’s keep the bone broth love going and let me know in the comments if you have tried the Freja chicken bone broth, I would love to know. 🍲💕
