2020 brought us a global pandemic that reshaped the way we live, work, and celebrate life’s milestones. Among the countless challenges that emerged, one of the most memorable experiences of my life was getting married during the pandemic. Here’s a glimpse into our unique journey – a love story we realised that the pandemic was going to dramatically affect our plans but at first I didn’t believe it. The fairy-tale that had finally come in to reaching distance suddenly seemed very uncertain. The decision to move forward with our wedding despite the uncertainty was not an easy one especially when I was on a visa timeline that we had to get married within 90 days from moving from UK to US at the time.. we were following the rules and keeping everyone as safe as we could. The whole wedding went ahead in a covid secure way…but it felt so incredibly magical that we completely forgot about the outside world and just enjoyed every moment!
We tried to find ways to keep as many of our guests involved as we could by sharing our ceremony on Zoom the most important aspect of our wedding. Virtual ceremonies became a lifeline for many couples during the pandemic, including us. We were determined to include loved ones who couldn’t attend in person. Live-streaming our ceremony helped bridge the gap and made our guests feel like they were right there with us, even from afar. While it was not the same as having everyone physically present, it united us in spirit. the love we shared and the commitment we were making.
In the end, our pandemic wedding was a beautiful celebration of love. It was not the circumstances that defined the beauty of the day but the commitment, unity, and shared love that made it truly special. Getting married in the pandemic was a unique and unforgettable experience. It taught us the true meaning of love, adaptability, and resilience. And, as we embark on this new journey together as a married couple, we know that our love story is one for the ages, no matter the challenges we may face in the future.
Thanks to the pandemic, our wedding journey will always be a bit unique, and our memories perhaps even more special. We both had worries about how the changes might affect our day and what it would be like, especially knowing so many people we loved would be missing from the celebrations. However, when the day came it all felt like a dream and we had the best time! We got to get married and that is the main thing, and everyone made so much effort to ensure it was all perfect.
